This is an except from my book, Assassin’s Heart. You can pick it up from Total-E-Bound by clicking the cover over there in the sidebar. Enjoy!
“This store has always—always—been nothing but Greeks and I let one—one—fucking Italian in here and look what happens.”
“I’m German-Italian, you old fuck!”
The old man laughed in derision. “And that’s supposed to make everything all right?”
“No, it doesn’t make it all right, but this will.” With those final words, Rhys pulled the trigger of his gun, sending a bullet into the skull of his former employer and the father of one of his best friends.
I am now less than a week from the release of On Angel Wings and I am more nervous about it than I was when Assassin’s Heart was released. I think it’s because with my first book I was/am unable to track the sales, but with the second, I can see how many people have already bought the book and I pray they enjoy it and don’t think they wasted their money.
No, I have not always been that sure of my writing abilities and even though there have been two publishers willing to take a chance on my stuff, for some reason I still have that seed of doubt in the back of my mind. Does that stop me from writing or sending my manuscripts out? Oh hell no. It makes me more determined to do something that might be out of the norm. I don’t write a lot of sweet romance type books, I like to write things that maybe a reader wants to take a chance on to read. I LOVE writing about angels and demons and mobsters and all that type of stuff. It’s where my head tends to stay… the 1920s and 30s also happen to be one of my most favourite times in history, so that helps. I have ideas of how Heaven is and how things work up there and I like to put my spin on it. Yes, I do think I might be in for a rude awakening when I get there (Gods let it not be for many, many decades yet).
At present, I am still waiting to hear back on two manuscripts I submitted about six to eight weeks ago respectively. You can read a little blurb about them on the manuscript status page. I am also in the process of trying to tie down the particulars of a series I want to start and of an idea that just popped up in my head a few days ago. Funny, that’s how my first book came about, with an idea that just popped in my head and wouldn’t stop nagging at me until I wrote it.
If you’ve picked up a copy of Assassin’s Heart and/or On Angel Wings (when it comes out), drop me a comment and let me know what you thought of it/them. Oh and if you haven’t already, check out the second fairy tale installment just below this post. You might like it. 😉
Well hello there. I do apologize that I am not a frequent poster to my own blog, but truth be told, I find that I am more entertaining when writing fiction than when blogging.
Currently in the works is a series a good friend of mine planted the seed for a few months ago. I have just finished the first part, the introduction if you will, and have sent it off to a publisher. I do hope they decide to take this on. I am excited to get to work on some of the other books in the series, but I have a couple other little projects I want to get completed first. I want to be able to devote the time I feel is necessary to the series to make it what I think it could and should be.
The next installment of the Fairy Tale Series should be along soon. Making some edits to the next story. If you enjoy my writing, please pop over to TEB and pick up a copy of Assassin’s Heart. And make a note my second book On Angel Wings will be released on May 26th!
I am officially a published author! And how will I celebrate this wonderous day? By editing my book due out next month. Perfectly fitting in my mind.
Pick up a copy of Assassin’s Heart here!
If you do read it, I hope you enjoy it.
Has it really been over a month since I last posted here? Wow. Well, I have had quite a few things going on and my internet has been spotty at best. In any event, an update awaits!
Edits have been completely finished for Assassin’s Heart and it is ready for release on April 9th. I am both nervous and yet, high school girl excited about this. This is my first book and I am nervous as to how it will be received by the public at large, but I am also excited because, well… it’s my first published book. The editing process was nothing like I thought it would be and while I was completely frustrated at the beginning, I am a little more comfortable about it now. The only thing I could do without, however, is reading my manuscript and feeling as though a friggin’ teenager wrote it when I know I am well and beyond my teenage years. Well… here goes nothin’!
I received the cover art for my second book this week and am so pleased with it. So pleased in fact that I am going to share it here with you now:
I am so completely tickled about finally seeing this, I don’t really have the words to share how much. I haven’t even seen the edits on this one, but I am fairly certain that they will be massive (if my first editing session is anything to go by). I am up for it though. This is a story that I felt so passionate about when I first wrote it and still do to this day. This one is tentatively scheduled for release next month. I say tentatively because it was originally due out for early May, but was pushed back twice, so I am a little nervous that it could happen again.
In other news, I am currently working on the first in a series of books (God help me). I have had an idea for awhile whose seed was planted by a very dear friend a few months ago, but it’s only been recently that I thought I could make a go of it. Here’s to hoping anyway. I have never really thought of myself as a series kinda girl, but who knows, maybe this will be such a good thing for me to actually undertake and complete.
I really think I need to spice up this blog a bit… got a few ideas… stay tuned! And don’t forget to pick up a copy of Assassin’s Heart on April 9th!
Assassin’s Heart is my first release (and hopefully not my last!) through Total-E-Bound Publishing.
Be sure to pick up a copy on April 9th!
