Since my last post here, Fractured Heart has been released and has been selling wonderfully. I appreciate all of you folks who bought copies for doing so and thank you from the bottom of my heart. I have recently received word that editing on my next release Voyeur will be starting soon. I am rather excited about that. I love the story of Voyeur more than anything else I have written…so far, and I am anxious for it to get out there in the world.
My release through Total-E-Bound, Welcome Home will be released on January 21st. I am looking forward to that and as always, I will be biting my nails praying people will like it. Keeping my fingers crossed for that one. 🙂
I made a resolution to get ten books written this year and I’m off to a good start. I have started something that was originally supposed to have been a one off, but some of the characters have been a little insistent, so it may turn in to a series. Here’s to hoping I can have storylines that keep me interested. If they don’t keep me interested, how is anyone else going to find interest in them, right?
I hope that everyone had a wonderful holiday, no matter what you celebrate and I send good wishes for the new year!
Well, well, well… here I am once again after a long absence. I really should keep up with this thing, but increasingly I am finding that I don’t have much to say. I don’t have insightful things to post, nor am I big enough to do any sort of contests.I’ve just been keeping myself busy with writing.
I’ve finally finished editing my first book of fairy tale retellings and have submitted them. I’m hoping for good things with these and as I am beginning work on my series, serious work, I am already gathering ideas for another book. I like fairy tales. I like writing about magic and all that. I like writing impossible situations that my characters get out of. True love always comes out on top, that sort of thing.
Okay, back to the title of this post. I have some release date news for you folks. Welcome Home will be available for pre-order through Total-E-Bound on December 10th (I believe) and December 24th and will actually be available on January 26th, 2013. Fractured Heart is available for pre-order now and will be released December 16th as part of Silver Publishing’s Let It Snow Advent Calendar. And Voyeur will be released March 9th, 2013. Now, that last date may change and of course, I will update here to let you folks know. So, be on the lookout for those.
Until next time…
As I wrote in my last post, I sold my fifth manuscript to Silver Publishing. While I had had my issues with another manuscript I had submitted to them numerous times, I received a personal email from one of the acquisitions editors letting me know that while the one manuscript was going to be rejected, the other would be accepted, but what struck me and gave me the motivation to keep going with my writing and to make it better than it was before. What did she say? She told me that they believed in me. It never ceases to amaze me how a few little words can have such an impact on a person. With just those few words, “We believe in you”, it gave me the motivation to keep pushing forward, the wherewithall to get back to work writing when I I thought my writing was shit.
So, here I am, working on book one of two of fairy tales. And book one of a series.
Ah, the series… I had wanted to have a heroine be the “star” of those, but she decided to go have a facial, massage, mani and pedi, so I started the thing with a hero instead. Well, needless to say, my heroine came back with a vengeance and demanded to be written in her rightful place. So, once I am finished with my fairy tales (hopefully this week), I will be restarting book one. I have a lot on my plate in the coming weeks, and frankly, I am completely looking forward to everything.
One last thing before I go, here is the cover for my TEB release Welcome Home. It will be available January 26th, 2013.
Also, my book, Fractured Heart is now available for pre-order from Silver Publishing. It’ll be released December 16th, 2012. You can click the cover over there in the sidebar to get to the page. If you purchase it, I certainly hope you enjoy it!
I am simply not around here enough am I? Truth be told, when I am writing and going about my life, I don’t tend to have too much to say. However, this is not one of those times.
Yesterday, I signed the contract for my fifth book entitled Voyeur. I am beyond thrilled and by far the most proud of this particular manuscript. There are a lot of editing days in my future. I have a book coming out December 16th, another on January 26th and then this lovely. Also, I began work on the series that has been bubbling away in my head. So, yeah, I will be very busy in the next few weeks/months and ya know what? I can not wait to start on everything.
Sidenote: Today is 10/11/12 make it count people!
This is an except from my book, Assassin’s Heart. You can pick it up from Total-E-Bound by clicking the cover over there in the sidebar. Enjoy!
“This store has always—always—been nothing but Greeks and I let one—one—fucking Italian in here and look what happens.”
“I’m German-Italian, you old fuck!”
The old man laughed in derision. “And that’s supposed to make everything all right?”
“No, it doesn’t make it all right, but this will.” With those final words, Rhys pulled the trigger of his gun, sending a bullet into the skull of his former employer and the father of one of his best friends.
I signed the contract for my third book a coupe of days ago. I am thrilled that the publisher wanted to take a chance on a plain, vanilla love story. I am still awaiting word on the manuscript I submitted to Silver Publishing. It’s been almost eight weeks since I heard that the acquisitions editor had it, so I am hoping to hear something soon. I want to be able to start on the series, but I don’t really feel comfortable doing that if the one to start it all has no home.
In any event, I am working hard on two things now, one for a special submission and another just because. Both have a Christmas theme, which is hard as hell for me to write in the summer in the desert where I live. Snow and cold? Just doesn’t happen here outside of winter. How the hell do recording artists sing about Christmas in the middle of the year?
I am now less than a week from the release of On Angel Wings and I am more nervous about it than I was when Assassin’s Heart was released. I think it’s because with my first book I was/am unable to track the sales, but with the second, I can see how many people have already bought the book and I pray they enjoy it and don’t think they wasted their money.
No, I have not always been that sure of my writing abilities and even though there have been two publishers willing to take a chance on my stuff, for some reason I still have that seed of doubt in the back of my mind. Does that stop me from writing or sending my manuscripts out? Oh hell no. It makes me more determined to do something that might be out of the norm. I don’t write a lot of sweet romance type books, I like to write things that maybe a reader wants to take a chance on to read. I LOVE writing about angels and demons and mobsters and all that type of stuff. It’s where my head tends to stay… the 1920s and 30s also happen to be one of my most favourite times in history, so that helps. I have ideas of how Heaven is and how things work up there and I like to put my spin on it. Yes, I do think I might be in for a rude awakening when I get there (Gods let it not be for many, many decades yet).
At present, I am still waiting to hear back on two manuscripts I submitted about six to eight weeks ago respectively. You can read a little blurb about them on the manuscript status page. I am also in the process of trying to tie down the particulars of a series I want to start and of an idea that just popped up in my head a few days ago. Funny, that’s how my first book came about, with an idea that just popped in my head and wouldn’t stop nagging at me until I wrote it.
If you’ve picked up a copy of Assassin’s Heart and/or On Angel Wings (when it comes out), drop me a comment and let me know what you thought of it/them. Oh and if you haven’t already, check out the second fairy tale installment just below this post. You might like it. 😉
